Lush valley rises gently to the foothills
of the High Atlas walls about sixty
kilometers south of Marrakech,
where we glimpsed picturesque Berber villages.
The road to this valley crosses the plain of
Haouz. Souk Ourika discovered
by visiting the bustling weekly souk area (held
every Monday) a weekly Berber market fascinating and picturesque.
Village of Setti Fatma :
The village of Setti Fatma is located at
1500m above sea level on the hills above
the valley of the Ourika (High Atlas),
this small village is the starting point for many excursions into
the surrounding mountains. Hiking the most popular and easiest
is to ride along a mountain stream to
discover the 7 waterfalls.
Ecomuseum Berber :
Located in the village of Tafza, a
private cultural institution, partner of the House
of Photography in Marrakech. This museum
was founded in April 2009, and at the initiative of Patrick and
Hamid Mergani Manach. It highlights the Berber culture through a
collection of photographs, pottery, jewelry, rugs and weavings.
